The wonderful radiating background stamps from Miss Ink Stamps are fantastic for bringing your eye to a central image or images. I’ve used the Decaf Background in a very subtle way in this cute card to give a ‘cool’ feel & focus to the penguin and Mouse images from Say Cheese.
I used the ‘resist’ technique with the Decaf Background stamp as follows:
- Ink up the background stamp with versamark in or embossing ink
- Stamp onto white cardstock (prepped first with powder tool or similar)
- Use white embossing ink to cover stamped area and tap off excess
- Heat set embossing powder with heat tool – make sure all embossing powder is fully melted – it’s easy to miss sections on a large image.
- Cut to desired size (I used a Paper Rose Stitched rectangle die)
- Lightly ink with chosen colour (I used Tumbled Glass distress Oxide ink), wipe surface of embossing with papertowel to remove any ink sitting on top of the embossing.
I added a white ‘strip’ of card to the bottom of the card to look like snow/iceberg.
I stamped the images with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copics (Browns: E33, E11, E00, Greys: C5, C3, C1, C00, Hat tassel: BG23, BG11).
I stamped the sentiment from the Decaf Background stamp set (love that it comes with great sentiments!!) onto black card and white embossed, trimming and adhering to the card.
Thanks for joining us on the Miss Ink Blog and see you again soon!
