Good morning, crafty friends!! Brenda here with you today for another "Step Up Your Cardmaking" post!!
For today's cards, I used the stunning Gardenia stamp set!! I know gardenias are white or cream in color, but I was inspired by the Mermaid Lagoon Dazzle Dust for my color palette today!!
You can see both cards above!! There isn't a lot of difference in the two, but I will show you a few things that I did to "step up" the second one.
To begin the first card, I stamped the Gardenia images onto white cardstock with black ink, colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out. The Copics I used were as follows: BG07, BG05, BG01, V17, V15, V12, V01, E97, YR24 & Y13. A yellow gel pen was used in the center of the flowers. I trimmed a panel of white cardstock and stamped the greeting from Thankful in black ink. The panel was splattered with diluted Wilted Violet Distess Oxide and adhered to a violet cardstock panel.
The florals were adhered in opposite corners, the sentiment shadowed with a V15 purple Copic and one Watercolor Butterfly was adhered near the sentiment.
Now, let's "step this up" a bit!!
This time, I stamped the images from Gardenia with FadeOutInk for some no-line coloring. I used the same Copic colors as the first card, but added some details with colored pencils. The Mermaid Lagoon Dazzle Dust was mixed with some Glossy Accents and spread through the Leafy Green Stencil onto opposite corners of the white cardstock panel. This time, I white heat embossed the sentiment, again from the Thankful stamp set, onto violet cardstock, then fussy cut it out and into a strip.
These flowers and sentiment were adhered with foam adhesive for added dimension. I also added a couple of extra Watercolor Butterflies!!
Which one is more your style? I'm a "more is more' kind of girl, myself,,,ha!!
Thanks so much for hanging out with me today!! Have a wonderful week!!!
