Hello it's Rick here with you today to share a fun nontraditional holiday card using the emboss resist technique to create a fun and unexpected Christmas Card. In today's post I am using the Siriusly Stamp Set (for the focal image), Deck the Halls Stamp Set (for the perfect sentiment), and the Frosty Flakes Stencil (for the perfect background.)
To create my card I started out by cutting two sheets of smooth cardstock in two different colors that are not technically Christmas colors but are in the same color families as the traditional colors. I picked two colors that would compliment each other but give a fun new take on a classic color combo. I then took my two pieces of cardstock and cut them both with the frame die from the Modern Typeset Frame Dies. This frame gives me not only the frame but cuts the interior out as well which allows you to use the two different colors of cardstock on your card.
I then took the interior cardstock piece and the Frosty Flakes Stencil and ink blended a tone on tone in a gradient to create the background panel. I then heat embossed the building from he Siriusly Stamp Set and stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock in embossing ink. I then covered the ink in white detailed embossing powder. I took a color of ink that matched the other piece of cardstock and ink blended over that creating a gradient look. I then cut out the building with paper snips and the sentiment. I added the frame to the card base with foam adhesive.
Next you are going to attach the interior piece into the frame. I just added liquid glue behind the stenciled panel and attached it to the card base inside the frame. I then added the building that I created with the emboss resist technique to the inside of the frame and the sentiment at the top. I then added a little bling to finish off the card.
