Hello my Inky friends! Davina here on the blog, with an fun splattered creation that I just adore. I’m still so enamored with the gorgeous Alice release, and the magical illustrations. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of making Wonderland scenes. There is a new stencil coming out soon, a large keyhole, and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to create a scene like this.
I cut a bright white panel and centered the stencil using the etched guides. Then I ink blended with mowed lawn into peacock feathers using Distress Oxides. I splattered with clean water and generously with gold watercolor. I made sure that the gold extended all the way across the panel so it would peak out from behind.
I stamped and colored images from Alice, Smokin’Caterpillars, and Springtime Banners using copic markers. Once cutting out I added white dot highlights. I layered and glued all of my images onto the the inked keyhole, reserving the White Rabbit for the top panel. Next, I used the same stencil as a guide, and traced the outline with a pencil onto black cardstock. I cut it out with my scissors before trimming the entire panel 1/2 inch smaller than the base layer. After splattering with more gold watercolor, I used foam tape to mount it over the inked and decorated keyhole so that it would have a 3D feel. I used more foam tape to mount my white rabbit over both panels then added a sentiment strip using one of the stamps from Wonderland Wisdom.
I love the bold intensity of this little card, and how everything works so well together. Thank you for dropping by,
Davina
